About this property

Welcome to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre

Set on the seafront in Western Shore, Nova Scotia, Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre offers a casual atmosphere with scenic views of the water. Its location, approximately 2 km from the city centre and 14.5 km from Chester, makes it a practical base for exploring nearby attractions such as the famous Oak Island and the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. The resort is also home to Salty Dog Sea Tours, a highly rated boat tour agency located on site.

The property combines the features of a hotel, marina, massage spa, and resort hotel, providing guests with multiple indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness centre, a hot tub, and a restaurant. Free Wi-Fi, free parking, and room service are available, alongside a pet-friendly policy and kid-friendly amenities. While it lacks a business centre and airport shuttle, the setting suits those looking to relax or enjoy recreational activities rather than conduct formal business.

Guest feedback highlights the beautiful waterfront location and satisfactory service. The renovated facilities receive praise, especially for family-friendly features such as the pool and hot tub. However, some visitors note issues like water pressure and occasional pricing concerns in the restaurant. The property offers an atmosphere more aligned with casual stays than luxury, appealing to those seeking a comfortable, laid-back experience.

It attracts families, groups, and travelers interested in local maritime culture and outdoor adventures. I’ve been lucky enough to work for a few clients hosting their wedding at Oak Island and it’s always been fantastic. As a Wedding Coordinator, Oak Island provides that beautiful east coast feel to your wedding day. (Photos by Alyssa Joy Photography)

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms, the service in the restaurant, and the beautiful view and location. We held a birthday party there and the restaurant staff were super helpful, provided seamless service, and the food was off the charts. Thank you...we will be back!

The food was good but I still found it over priced. There was no water in the room for coffee/tea. Live entertainment was excellent. Guy Paul Thibault. Cleaning staff unlocked our door and came in our room while we were in bed before 10am. Checkout is at 11am, so that was a surprise. Otherwise service was excellent.

Beautiful view. Nice rooms. Great service. Solid dining options. Close enough to use as a home base to explore the south shore (Chester, Mahone Bay). My only complaint is they have built a very nice games room, that no one gets to use. (It's just for bookable events). Maybe let your regular guests have access to the pool table, shuffle board, and foosball table?

I am not fancy, so I don't need any service besides the front desk to check in and out. The restaurant is delicious, but so over priced. Find something local to eat instead. The rooms are modest, basic, relatively clean from what I've seen. The water pressure is horrible though. The shower is like a trickle. Beds are a bit weird, no fitted sheets just some kind of pad on the mattress and a super thin flat sheet. Beds are firm, which I like, but others might find it to hard. The pillows are not great for side sleepers, which I am, so the nights are adequate but not awesome. Location is cute and quaint. Very much a typical Nova Scotia experience. Parking is fine, I've never lacked space. They still have basic cable in the rooms. Provide bar soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, shaving cream and make up remover. Hairdryer and towels in the bathroom. No tubs, only walk in shower. The place is dated but we'll maintained. The only thing I'd wish they would update are the carpets. Carpets in general are disgusting, no amount of vacuuming is going to get them clean. They should change these to laminate like motel 6. Far cleaner and easier to clean.

My family and I just stayed there and it exceeded our expectations. Beautifully renovated, great service, pool was awesome for the kids, and the outdoor hot tub was a bonus. We will go back!

Went with the Pedal & Sea bike tour, stayed just a night. Beautiful property: made me wish I had someone to marry, lol. Would also work well as a retreat space, as a place to do your conference, etc.

We were made to feel special just for being there. From the wait staff in the restaurant to the front desk and everyone we came in contact during our three day visit, we were treated like royalty. Access to the game rooms, exercise room and pool area left us wanting to stay longer. Love, love, love you guys.
